Analysis of the effects of cetane improver addition to diesel on engine performance and emissions

The high cetane number of the fuel used in diesel engines is extremely important as it provides some improvements combustion cylinder. Therefore, addition improver to has been highly preferred recent years. In this study, effects 2-ethylhexyl nitrate (EHN) addition, a improver, on compression ignition engine performance and emissions were analyzed at various loads. Four different fuels experiments 100% (D100), 99% + 1% EHN (D99EHN1), 98% 2% (D99EHN2) 97% 3% (D99EHN3). results obtained from showed that 2-EHN positively affected brake thermal efficiency (BTHE), hydrocarbon (HC) carbon monoxide (CO) values, while specific consumption (BSFC), nitrogen oxide (NOx) smoke emission levels negatively affected. With load, supplement marginally rises NOx but significantly declines HC CO emissions. had small impacts BSFC. Compared D100 fuel, highest BTHE value was by D99EHN2 with an increase 11.57% 3000-Watt load value. D97EHN3 compared diesel, decreased 60.61%, 31.25%. show can be successfully engine.
